Census data tells us that 26% of Philadelphia households live in poverty. In reality, even more households in Philadelphia - and across Pennsylvania - don't have the income they need to reach self-sufficiency.
Since 1997, PathWays PA has worked with Dr. Diana Pearce to calculate The Self-Sufficiency Standard for Pennsylvania. Over the last 23 years, calculation of the Self-Sufficiency Standard has documented the continuing increase in the real cost of living, illuminating the economic crunch experienced by so many families today.
On February 12, we hope you will join us for breakfast and the release of the latest Self-Sufficiency Standard, including a report on the households Overlooked and Undercounted in the federal poverty level.
